A big winter storm is on the way for the Northeast, bringing heavy snow and travel disruptions from West Virginia to Maine. It's the same system that caused severe weather in the Southeast on Monday, including possible tornadoes and flash flooding.
In New York City, we're facing our first Winter Stormhttps://grapseex.com/4/7057424 Warning in over two years. More than 35 million people are under winter storm alerts along the Interstate 95 corridor, stretching from New York City to Providence, Rhode Island, and into Boston.
The storm will start as rain but quickly turn to snow as it moves off the East Coast and pulls in cold air from Canada. This means we can expect significant snowfall in many areas.
As the storm approaches, travel plans are already being affected. At LaGuardia Airport, almost a quarter of flights have been canceled. And to keep everyone safe, New York City Public Schools will switch to remote learning on Tuesday.
In Boston, Mayor Michelle Wu has declared a snow emergency, and Boston Public Schools will be closed on Tuesday.
So, it's time to bundle up and stay safe as we prepare for this winter blast! ❄️🌨️
